Giveaways and Attendance Incentives

It's been a while since our last in-person meeting, and we're excited to welcome both familiar and new faces back together! To celebrate, we’ve planned exciting prizes and rewards for attending.

Our goal is to encourage everyone to reconnect in person. At SEPA, we always pride ourselves on offering members the chance to continue their education, maintain their certifications, and—most importantly—network! Virtual meetings are convenient, but they can’t replace the real connections and friendships made when we meet face-to-face. You can’t build meaningful relationships over a Zoom call with your camera off!

Join us for this special opportunity to not only learn but also make new friends and reunite with colleagues. We look forward to seeing you there!

We’re excited to offer special gifts and incentives for all members who attend our in-person meeting! Each attendee will receive an exclusive SEPA aluminum water bottle and free registration to our February 2025 meeting. Additionally, you’ll be entered into a drawing for five extra chances to win a free registration to the 2025 Congress, which will be awarded at the February meeting.

As a bonus, if you bring a new member or guest to the meeting, you’ll receive an additional five chances to win a free registration to Congress. It’s our way of thanking you for supporting SEPA and encouraging more members to reconnect in person!

Summary:

The Impact of Policies and Incentives on the Overtime Rate

To remain competitive in the employee marketplace, businesses must be creative (and generous) with total compensation packages to recruit, retain and engage the best talent.  As we create and implement these incentives, it is important for us to consider the full impact on an employee’s pay, taxes, and the company budget.  When do we have to include an attendance bonus in the overtime rate calculation?  How do we handle shift differentials?  Developing and designing our programs to ensure compliance with United States Department of Labor (USDOL) pay requirements is critical!

Topics include:

  • Discretionary versus non-discretionary bonuses and the impact on the overtime rate calculation
  • Some creative solutions for calculating overtime on attendance, production and other bonuses
  • Policy “pitfalls” in our Employee Handbook
  • Calculating the true cost of the incentives
