        Top 5 Soft Skills Every Payroll Professional Needs

A Presentation by Tiffani L. Gray, CPP


Summary:

Soft Skills are the interpersonal attributes you need to succeed in any workplace.  They are indicative and relative to how you work with and relate to others.  In this session, find out which soft skills are most useful in cultivating collaboration and cooperation in a payroll environment.  We will cover 5 soft skills that are essential for a payroll professionals’ success.  We will also discuss:

  • What they are
  • Why they matter
  • Strategies and practices that can be self-taught and practiced daily
  • The right way to add them to your resume

Tiffani is the Payroll Manager for the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board. At the community services board, along with her team, she serves the employees of the agency who continually develop an array of behavioral health, substance use disorder, intellectual and developmental disability, and prevention services for the surrounding communities. At the HNNCSB, she sits as Co-Chair of the Cultural Competency Committee, where they work with Executive Leadership within the Agency to address issues concerning Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the behavioral healthcare industry and region.  

She has over 20 years of experience in the payroll and accounting industry and 11 years of state service here in the Commonwealth. Tiffani studied Accounting at Hampton University and received her Certified Payroll Professional Certificate in 2017. Tiffani is an active member of the American Payroll Association and currently is the President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the APA (HRAPA) , where she has been an active member for over 8 years.

She has served on the Virginia Statewide Payroll Conference Board since 2018 and currently sits as the Chair of the Speaker committee and Social Media. She is widely known for her highly energetic and innovative personality and has a real passion for payroll education, networking and building stronger payroll professional relationships, social media management, multi-generational mentorship.

Tiffani lives in Newport News, VA with her husband Chad, and their three children Gabrielle (8), Makayla (7) , and Sterling (5).


2020 Elections!

The November meeting we will also hold the elections for the Board position of Vice President!!  If anyone is interested in running for office or would like to nominate someone, please contact Vice President Jennifer Conner; vicepresident@sepaapa.org


We will be using a ZOOM Platform for their presentation, as we get closer to the meeting date we will provide invites/links to attend the meeting virtually
